Privacy Policy

Offline Prompt Tester — Last updated: March 2025

Overview

Offline Prompt Tester is a Chrome extension designed to work entirely on your local machine. Your prompts and results are processed by a locally-running LLM that you control (such as Ollama, Jan.ai, or LM Studio). No data is sent to any cloud service operated by us.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect, store, or transmit your prompts or generated results.
• We do not collect usage statistics, analytics, or telemetry.
• We do not track your browsing activity.
• We do not create or maintain user accounts.
• We do not use cookies of any kind.

Local Storage

The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device:

• Your prompt history (retained for 7 days on the free plan, 30 days on Pro)
• Saved prompts from your personal library
• Extension settings (API base URL, model name, temperature, dark mode preference)
• Pinned results
• Daily usage counter (resets each day)
• Pro license activation status

All of this data remains on your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

Network Requests

The extension makes the following network requests:

• Your local LLM server (e.g. http://localhost:1337) — to generate prompt perturbations and compute similarity scores. This request stays entirely on your machine.
• Gumroad license verification API (https://api.gumroad.com) — only when you enter a Pro license key in the Settings tab. The request contains only your license key and the product ID. No personal information is transmitted beyond what Gumroad requires to verify the key. Gumroad's privacy policy applies to this interaction: gumroad.com/privacy.

No other outbound network requests are made under any circumstances.

Third-Party Services

Offline Prompt Tester does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection services. The only third-party service involved is Gumroad, solely for Pro license verification as described above.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised date at the top of the page.
